Hats Built for Weather, Not Fashion Weeks

Wigens started in 1906 in a Swedish factory town where winter isn’t a season—it’s a test. The founder wasn’t chasing trends or building a lifestyle brand. He was solving a problem: how do you make a hat that actually keeps your head warm when it’s -15°C and the wind’s coming off the Baltic? The answer was wool that didn’t pill, construction that didn’t fall apart, and shapes that worked under real conditions.

We’re still making hats the same way, just with better materials than they had in 1906. Every design gets worn by actual people in actual weather—commuters in Stockholm, dock workers in Oslo, anyone who needs their head covered and doesn’t want to think about it twice. We’re not interested in what’s trending on Instagram or what some stylist in Milan thinks looks good. We care about whether the hat stays on your head in wind, keeps you warm in cold, and lasts long enough that you forget when you bought it.

You won’t find us in fashion magazines, and that’s fine. Our customers aren’t looking for the hat of the season—they’re looking for the hat that works this season and the next twenty after it. We make classics because classics are what people actually wear. Simple shapes, quality materials, construction that doesn’t quit. If you want a statement piece, go somewhere else. If you want a hat that does its job without requiring a second thought, you’re in the right place.

Testimonials

“I’ve gone through three different caps in the past two years, but this Wigens has held up through rain, wind, and daily wear for over eight months now.”

Marcus T.

“My husband tried it on as a joke at first—he’s usually a baseball cap guy. Now it’s the only thing he reaches for when we go out. The fit is somehow both structured and comfortable.”

Elena K.

“I was skeptical about spending this much on a hat, but the weight and feel of the fabric made sense the moment I held it. It’s one of those things you just know will last.”

Questions About Fit or Style?

Whether it’s sizing advice, fabric details, or hat care—all questions and suggestions are welcome here.

Common Questions

How should these items be stored when not in use?

Proper storage helps maintain shape and condition. Items should be kept in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Using a hat box or placing them on a shelf rather than hanging prevents distortion. Stuffing the crown with acid-free tissue paper helps retain the original form during long-term storage.

How can someone determine the right size?

Measuring the head circumference about an inch above the eyebrows provides an accurate starting point. Most products include size charts that convert measurements to standard sizing. If between sizes, choosing the larger option typically offers better comfort, as many styles include interior bands that can be adjusted for a more precise fit.

What’s the typical timeframe for receiving an order?

Standard shipping usually takes 5-7 business days within domestic regions. International orders may require 10-14 business days depending on the destination. Expedited options are available at checkout for faster delivery. Tracking information is provided once the order ships, allowing customers to monitor progress.

What’s the best way to clean these products?

Most styles benefit from gentle spot cleaning with a soft brush or damp cloth. For wool varieties, brushing in the direction of the fibers removes dust and lint. Straw materials should be wiped with a slightly damp cloth and air-dried completely. Professional cleaning is recommended for stubborn stains or delicate fabrics to avoid damage.

Are these suitable for rainy or wet conditions?

Weather resistance varies by material. Wool-based options can handle light moisture but should be allowed to dry naturally if wet. Straw varieties are best kept dry, as water can cause warping. Some treated fabrics offer water-repellent properties. Checking specific material care guidelines before exposure to wet conditions helps prevent damage.

Can items be returned if they don’t fit properly?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase for unworn items in original condition with tags attached. The process begins by contacting customer service to receive a return authorization and shipping instructions. Refunds are processed within 7-10 business days after the return is received and inspected. Original shipping costs are non-refundable.
